The Cumberland Empowerment Zone Corp. with partners USDA Rural Development and The Authority presents "Growing Rural Businesses" free workshop on Oct. 14.

 

The Bridgeton Rotary Club is producing a community cookbook which will be for sale in tome for the holiday season this year.  It is filled with family recipes contributed by club members and friends and family in the area.  You may contribute your favorite recipe no later than Sept. 30.  All recipes must to submitted online using the following link and password.

$100 full page ads are for sale that will be in the cookbook. The ad size is 4 3/8 in. wide by 7 1/2 in high. Interested parties should submit the verbiage/with or without a picture, to Gia Sparacio Scarani, samaria426@comcast.net and she will save it as a PDF (if you do not submit it as a PDF), and it will then be uploaded it to the cookbook. Ads must be submitted by Thursday, October 1, 2026. Make checks payable to Bridgeton Rotary Club and mail to Roy Spoltore, Club Treasurer, 20 Malaga Dr., Bridgeton, NJ 08302.

The Bridgeton Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate a remarkable milestone on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as it presents its 40th Annual Business and Community Hero Awards Celebration from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Grove at Centerton, 1040 Almond Road, Pittsgrove, NJ.

 

The celebration recognizes outstanding businesses, organizations, and individuals whose leadership, entrepreneurship, compassion, and community service have strengthened Bridgeton and the surrounding region.

 

The 2026 recipients of the Chamber’s Business and Community Hero Awards are:
Francis H. Sharp, Sr. Lifetime Achievement Award: Theodore H. Ritter, and Jody Hirata and Ed Bowman

 

Gary F. Simmerman Community Leadership Award: Dr. Gladwyn Baptist

 

Community Hero Awards: Michelle Azpiri of Bridgeton Public Library, Isis Sosa, Unidos Para La Familia, and Cumberland County Office on Aging, Lisa Williams, Executive Director

Meet one of our Community Heroes:

Michelle Azpiri

Michelle Azpiri will be recognized for her exceptional volunteer leadership with the Bridgeton Public Library and her dedication to serving the community in countless ways.

 

Michelle is an experienced bilingual public sector and operations professional with over two decades of experience in executive administration, financial oversight, organizational management, and community leadership.

 

She has a proven track record of supporting boards, managing large-scale initiatives, and leading strategic operations across both corporate and nonprofit environments.

 

Michelle has held leadership roles in business development, executive administration, and financial management, with expertise in stakeholder engagement, policy support, and program coordination. 

 

Deeply committed to public service, she currently serves in several community leadership and governance roles and is passionate about strengthening organizations and creating impactful public services through collaboration and leadership within the communities she serves. This extraordinary commitment to community led to her designation as a Community Hero.
