Isis Sosa will receive a Community Hero Award for her leadership with Unidos Para La Familia, Revive South Jersey, and many other organizations that strengthen families throughout the region.

Her inspiring personal journey—from immigrating to the United States from Honduras at the age of eight and spending several years in foster care to becoming an accomplished community leader—reflects determination, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

According to Isis, Unidos Para La Familia became much more than a place where she received help, it became a community that believed in her, encouraged her, and helped her recognize her own potential.

Today, Isis is proud to serve the same community that once supported her. Through her work, she helps families access education, employment opportunities, immigration resources, and other services that can bring stability and hope into their lives.

Her accomplishments, many first for her family, like homeownership, and university level education, represent more than personal success, they represent breaking barriers and creating new possibilities for her daughter and for future generations of her family, and others in the community.

The Cumberland County Office on Aging will receive a Community Hero Award for the outstanding care, compassion, and service provided to county seniors by its leadership and staff.

Under the leadership of Lisa Williams, who was appointed as Executive Director in 2026, the agency provides community with options needed to help older adults remain contributing members of the community with the greatest level of independence and self-sufficiency they are willing and able to sustain.

The Office on Aging  provides Cumberland County’s aging population and their caregivers with access to a system of services to maintain dignity and choice; and to act as an advocate for the essential programs to support these options.

Lisa and her team have added new programs to their already substantial list of services.
